Where did you grow up? Tell us about your family.
I grew up on a small rural acreage in Amber, Oklahoma. It was the kind of place where the pace was slow and the values ran deep. I have one younger sister, and we’re all still proud to call this area home.
Education?
High school – Amber-Pocasset High School (Amber, OK)Undergraduate degree/university – BS in Biochemistry, OBU (Shawnee)Medical School - University of Oklahoma College of MedicineResidency – Great Plains Family Medicine, Lawton, OK
Why did you want to be a doctor? Why Family Medicine?
My journey to medicine started later than most. I didn’t decide until late in high school. I’ve always been drawn to the wonder of nature, fascinated by everything from storm systems to microscopic life. For a long time, I thought I’d become a meteorologist because of my love for severe weather.
But one summer job changed everything. I started working as a medical assistant and quickly discovered how powerful it is to combine a scientific curiosity with a genuine human connection. I saw how medicine could blend both, digging into the complexities of the body while walking alongside people in their health journeys.
Family medicine just felt right. We get to care for everyone, from the very beginning of life to its final chapter. It’s an incredible honor to build lasting relationships with individuals and families, often across multiple generations. In addition, the wide range of conditions we manage as family physicians made it clear that this was the path for me.
Why Duncan? Have you always wanted to practice in a rural setting?
Duncan has a special charm that really resonated with my wife and me. We wanted a close-knit community where we could raise our kiddo and truly belong. Returning to a rural setting has always been the dream, and DRH gave us the perfect opportunity to do just that while serving a wonderful community.
What type of conditions will you treat?
As a family physician, I’ll treat a broad range of acute and chronic conditions. I’ll care for patients of all ages in the clinic throughout the week and take care of my patients should they need hospitalization.
I have a particular passion for obesity and metabolic health, and love working with children and teens. Laying the foundation for healthy habits early on is one of the best ways to prevent illness later in life.
What would you like the community to know about you?
I want the people of Duncan to know that I practice patient-centered medicine, grounded in compassion and mutual respect. A diagnosis doesn't define a person. We're all more than the challenges we face. I’m excited to grow roots here, get to know this community, and walk alongside patients and families as a physician and neighbor.
Now some fun facts...
I
’m a proud University of Oklahoma sports fan. Football, basketball (men’s and women’s), baseball, softball… you name it, I’m following it! I’m also a big family guy and love spending quality time with loved ones. And when I can, you’ll find me enjoying a quiet moment with a fishing pole in hand.
